BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Costume Designer Updates On The Process

Speaking with CineMovie while promoting American Hustle, Man of Steel costume designer Michael Wilkinson talks about returning for Batman vs. Superman. He confirms that he is “tweaking” Henry Cavill’s Superman suit, and he is also designing a “whole new” costume for Ben Affleck’s Batman as well as a “new look” for Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. Additionally, Wilkinson offers an update on the process of creating the costumes. “We are now in the stage where we’re refining our designs with the last series of camera tests and doing our final tweaks in preparation for shooting.” He adds that he feels, “honored and tremendously excited to be involved with a project whose iconic characters will be seen for the next generation of filmmakers.”

We previously heard that the Superman suit will be given some changes for Batman vs. Superman, though it is still unknown what exactly those changes are. The Batman costume is said to be influenced by Jim Lee’s design, and Kevin Smith stated that it’s unlike anything seen on film before. And this is the first that we have heard about Wonder Woman’s costume in the movie. Hopefully, they decide to ditch the classic swimsuit look and give her something more practical.
Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters July 17th, 2015. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne, with Jason Momoa in talks to join. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
