Henry Cavill Discusses Cyborg And MAN OF STEEL’s DC Universe References

One of the most enjoyable elements in Man of Steel is the inclusion of multiple references to a wider DC Universe. From the Wayne Enterprises satellite to S.T.A.R. Labs and LexCorp, these Easter eggs sowed the seeds for what may come in future films. In the following interview, Superman himself, Henry Cavill, looks back on these references. He talks in particular detail about Cyborg, who is connected to S.T.A.R. Labs, calling him a wonderful character. He reaffirms that he does not know if/when the character will be brought onto the big screen, and that he knows nothing more about Batman vs. Superman‘s story. Check out the video and transcription below. Thanks to Comic Book Therapy for the transcription.
“There’s one obvious (reference), which now is particularly obvious because of our next installment, which is involving Batman as well. We see Wayne Enterprises on the satellite in space. We also see some references to LexCorp. I have no actual further knowledge of this next story. So there’s a good chance Lex is going to be introduced soon, or at some stage. What really intrigued me, was Dr. Emil Hamilton’s reference to S.T.A.R. Labs. Cyborg, I think, would make a wonderful character and an incredible bridge between both super humans and humanity in a different way to Batman. I don’t know where he is going to come in, or if he is going to come in, but that is one I am particularly excited about. And other references I’m not too sure about, but we’ll see where those lead. Those with keen eyes will see them.”
