ARROW News Bits: Mirakuru, New “Blast Radius” Footage, Episode 12 Description And More

A slew of Arrow news tidbits have found their way online. First up, executive producer Marc Guggenheim has confirmed that Episode 15 of the second season is now filming. The title of the episode is “The Promise”. No further details on the episode are available, but it will likely air on The CW sometime in February. More information should be released soon.
Meanwhile, star Stephen Amell recently spoke with TV Line about what’s coming up for the rest of Season 2. He discusses the reemergence of the Mirakuru serum, and The Arrow’s determination to find Brother Blood. “Oliver is obsessed with whomever the guy in the skull mask is. Like, he’s losing his mind, freaking out because Mirakuru has a tie to the past for him. As we’re learning, all the stuff that happened on the island and [on the freighter] was not good. It was stuff that he thought he had buried in the past. So for it to crop back up again is not a good sign.” The mid-season finale revealed that Slade Wilson was behind Blood’s mass-production of Mirakuru. Of course, however, Oliver has “no idea” that Slade is in Starling City.

Amell then talks about the introduction of Nyssa al Ghul in Episode 13, titled “Heir to the Demon”. He says that it’s “extremely exciting”, and he also has a “really, really good fight sequence” in the following episode, “Time of Death”. In the latter, Oliver will “slide down a bunch of stairs,” leap over a railing, and fight a group who “really aren’t a match for me, so I have to find creative ways to take them down.” Oliver is also a part of a Laurel-centric arc on the show, which will see her hit rock bottom with her drug addiction. Amell concludes by saying, “Oliver’s going to play a part in [that arc], but not in the way you might think. Oliver has always been very protective of Laurel, and her moment of clarity, so to speak, happens after an encounter with Oliver unlike one that we’ve ever seen on the show.”

In a separate interview with TV Line, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg comments on the possibility of including Felicity’s backstory at some point. Right now, however, it would only add to the number of things Arrow is focusing on. “We have known for a long time what Felicity’s background is, where she came from and who her parents are. But it could be such a big story that it’s something that we might hold off on. In a rare display of, ‘Oh, that might be too much,’ we might have to wait on that.”

In more Arrow news, The CW has released the official description for S2E12, “Tremors”. The episode will see the return of both Michael Jai White’s Bronze Tiger and Colin Salmon’s Walter Steele, and The Arrow’s attempts to train Roy in handling his super-strength.

ARROW TRAINS ROY — Arrow (Stephen Amell) offers to train Roy (Colton Haynes) so he can learn to control his newfound super-strength. However, Roy is a rebellious student and refuses to listen unless Arrow reveals his true identity, which Oliver refuses to do. Meanwhile, the Bronze Tiger (guest star Michael Jai White) escapes from prison and steals Malcolm’s earthquake machine to sell to the highest bidder. Oliver, Diggle (David Ramsey) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) attempt to stop the transfer, but Roy gets in the way, putting everyone in danger. Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is disbarred and spirals out of control. Moira (Susanna Thompson) is thrilled when Walter (guest star Colin Salmon) asks her to dinner, but his reason surprises her. Thea (Willa Holland) encourages her mother to ask Walter to reconcile. Guy Bee directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim & Drew Z. Greenberg.

Finally, we have some new footage from January 15th’s mid-season premiere, “Blast Radius”. An extended promo has been released, as well as a producer’s preview teasing Shrapnel and Slade Wilson. We then have a clip from the episode, referencing Barry Allen’s accident and hinting at Oliver’s past experience with Mirakuru.
