BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: Possible Details On Wonder Woman’s Role, Batman’s Costume And More

Jett from Batman-On-Film has posted a new “mailbag”, which sees him answering various fan questions. Of course, the majority of the inquiries were about Batman vs. Superman, which begins filming in a few weeks. In his answers, Jett drops some potential tidbits for the hotly anticipated superhero epic. He reaffirms that two Superman villains will feature: Lex Luthor, and one who he can’t name but has been heavily rumored. Two villains rumored to be appearing are Doomsday and Metallo, though there has been more talk about the former being in the Zack Snyder-directed film. Additionally, Jason Momoa – who has been in talks for an unspecified role – will not be playing Martian Manhunter or Aquaman, as neither character will make an appearance.

One Justice League member minus Batman and Superman who is appearing is Wonder Woman, who will be played by Gal Gadot. Jett says that her role will probably be similar to Black Widow’s in Iron Man 2, hopefully serving as a springboard for her own movie. The Batman-On-Film writer then goes on to state that Batman vs. Superman is “truly a Superman film”; Henry Cavill’s Supes is the main character, and both villains are from Superman lore. Batman plays a major role and Wonder Woman a supporting role, thus establishing these two characters in the DC Cinematic Universe. And no, this isn’t a Justice League movie in disguise. Jett also thinks there’s a “very strong chance” of the title being Man of Steel: [Subtitle] to let people know that this is indeed a Superman movie.

Additionally, with production commencing soon, Warner Bros. is expected to release a first look at Ben Affleck’s Batman costume around the same time. Jett reaffirms this, and shares some specs for the suit. “I think the “traditional” Batsuit will look a little different than what we’ve seen before. I do not think any part of it will be a shade of blue, nor do I think Batfleck will be sporting anything like “tights” in the film. He’ll also don some sort of Bat-armor with BATMAN BEYOND/KINGDOM COME sort of capabilities.” Batman’s characterization will also apparently be based on a mix of The Dark Knight Returns and Kingdom Come, with slight influence from Batman Beyond. No Batman villains will be featured in this movie.

Finally, Jett talks about the future of both Batman and Superman on film. He’s certain that Superman will headline another solo movie without any other DC heroes in the near future, and that Ben Affleck will take over the Batman film series. He then speculates that the actor will play Batman in five films: Batman vs. Superman, another Batman trilogy, and a second DC team-up (most likely Justice League). Jett talks about much more in the full article, which you can read by clicking the link above.

Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters July 17th, 2015. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne, with Jason Momoa in talks to join. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
