BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: Updates On Michigan Budget And Enhanced Security

With production set to begin next month, we have a couple of updates for Batman vs. Superman‘s pre-production. First up, according to CBS Detroit, the Man of Steel follow-up will invest $131M in filming in Michigan. Keep in mind that this isn’t the complete budget, just the amount that will be used in production in this area. As expected, this will create hundreds of jobs for crew members and about 6,000 for extras. And as previously reported, the movie will be the biggest ever filmed in Michigan, surpassing Oz: The Great and Powerful‘s 2011 shoot. Michelle Grinnell, public relations manager for the Michigan Film Office, had this to say in comparing the two productions. “The difference in part is ‘Oz’ did all of their filming at the studios in Pontiac. It was a lot of green screens and set builds there. The Superman-Batman movie will be doing some of that, but they will also be doing some other on-location stuff here in the state.” More details can be found at the link above. 

In other Batman vs. Superman news, a new report says that Warner Bros. is putting the movie under heavier security. According to The Daily Superhero, loose ends with leaks of information are being located in an effort to prevent future leaks once filming begins. Additionally, the production crew will not have filming scripts on a daily basis, but only the scenes that will be filmed on a particular day. As with any blockbuster, rumors for Batman vs. Superman are all over the web. With filming expected to start in a few weeks, most of the rumors should be debunked or verified soon. (I can guarantee that the Denzel Washington as Green Lantern rumor is absolutely bogus.)

Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters July 17th, 2015. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne, with Jason Momoa in talks to join.
