Production On BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Will Reportedly Proceed As Originally Planned

When it was announced that Batman vs. Superman was pushed back to 2016, Warner Bros. said that production on the movie will begin in the second quarter of 2014, rather than the previously slated February start date. There were also rumors of Ben Affleck being injured, which would have an affect on the production. However, those rumors appear to be false.
Now, we have word that the production will move forward as planned. In Deadline‘s article about Affleck dropping out of directing Fox’s The Middle Man pilot, the site reveals that this is because of the actor filming Batman vs. Superman soon. While the release date was pushed back, Deadline says that filming has not been delayed, and that the film’s major players are being called in to begin production “right away”.
This is certainly a bit surprising. Assuming that Batman vs. Superman will be finished filming by August, there will be nearly two year’s worth of post-production. That will be plenty of time to perfect the visuals. In fact, WB stated that the release date change was to allow Zack Snyder and co. to fulfill the “complex visual nature” of its vision. Then there are the rumors of Batman vs. Superman filming back-to-back with Justice League. Perhaps those two movies can be filmed 2014-2015, and then be released in 2016 and 2017, respectively. But that’s just speculation on my part.
With production apparently moving forward as expected, we should expect official news to come soon. In addition to casting its villains and any other new characters, we will likely be given our first look at Ben Affleck as Batman soon. Stay tuned for more as we have it.

Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
