Broadway Actor Carlos Valdes Cast As ‘Cisco Ramon’ In The CW’s FLASH Pilot [UPDATE: Two More Regular Roles Left To Be Cast]

It was just announced that Candice Patton will play Iris West in The CW’s potential Flash series, and now the Arrow spin-off pilot has filled another possible series regular role. Via The Wrap, Carlos Valdes, who started playing Andrej in Broadway’s Once musical last year, has been cast as Cisco Ramon. The character is described as “a mechanical engineering genius and the youngest member of the team of scientists at S.T.A.R. Labs.” In the comics, Ramon becomes the superhero Vibe, who was most recently featured as a member of the New 52’s Justice League of America. It’s unknown whether or not The Flash‘s version will have superpowers, but don’t be surprised if he doesn’t – at least, not initially.

In addition to Valdes and Patton, Grant Gustin will reprise his role as Barry Allen, who becomes The Flash. The potential Flash series also stars Jesse L. Martin as Detective West, Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, and Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow. The Flash will film next month, and if ordered to series, it will likely premiere on The CW sometime next fall.

UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter has added a few more tidbits of info in its article reporting this news. Two more series regular roles are to be cast – Harrison Wells and Hartley Rathaway. It is unknown who Wells is, but he was apparently mentioned by Linda Park as a S.T.A.R. Labs CEO in the Arrow mid-season finale. Rathaway is the alter ego of Pied Piper, a Flash villain and member of the Rogues. According to @TheAlexLynch97, Rathaway is openly gay, akin to the comic version. Additionally, he is not a villain yet.

THR’s report also has a more detailed character description for Cisco Ramon. “Born into a lower-income family, Cisco’s brains and talent helped him reach his potential. He is loyal and eager and provides the comic relief in contrast to his stiff co-workers. Best part: He is as much of a comic book fanboy as Barry.”
