DC TV News Bits: PREACHER Moving Forward, Stephen Amell Talks Possible Future ARROW/FLASH Crossover, iZOMBIE Casting Call

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that AMC is developing a television adaptation of Preacher, the popular DC/Vertigo comic from Garth Ennis. This Is The End duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will write the script, while Breaking Bad‘s Sam Catlin will serve as executive producer and showrunner for the potential series. Original Films’ Neal Moritz, Vivian Cannon, Ori Marmur, Ken Levin and Jason Netter are also on board as executive producers. This is the latest attempt to bring Preacher to life, after a number of movie and TV adaptations were canned.

Speaking with Access Hollywood, Arrow star Stephen Amell talks about the possibility of Barry Allen returning to the show before his upcoming spin-off pilot, as well as a crossover after The Flash premieres. “It’s always possible. I mean, originally he was supposed to be involved in our 20th episode, and that’s not happening. I know that it’s less likely that he comes back this season because I think [they] rightly want to save his story for his show, but if his show is successful and is on the air, I can’t imagine that we wouldn’t use the opportunity to do crossover events so to speak.” He also praises Grant Gustin’s performance in the two-part mid-season finale of Arrow. “Grant was great and he gets a lot of credit too. … He was the star of Episode 8. It was his story and he nailed it and that’s an incredibly difficult thing to do to come in as a guest and really take ownership of an episode and he did it. He killed it. It’s why they took it from Episode 20 and made it a pilot because they’re banking on him and they should be.” For more from Amell, in which he talks about “Olicity” and Roy Harper, click the link above. The Flash is expected to premiere on The CW next fall.
KSiteTV has found a casting call for The CW’s iZombie pilot, which adapts the fan favorite DC/Vertigo series. It suggests that the television version will only be a loose adaptation of the comic, with the lead character working at a coroner’s office instead of being a grave digger. Plus, the casting call has completely original names, rather than names from the source material. The lead character is Liv, rather than Gwen Dylan. Other characters include laine, Clive, Eva, Evan, Major, Peyton, and Ravi. It’s possible that these names are just placeholders to throw people off, however. iZombie is expected to begin production this spring, and is targeting a slot on The CW’s 2014-2015 schedule.
