Zack Snyder Reportedly Met With Michael B. Jordan For BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Role – Could It Be Cyborg?

Since his acclaimed performances in the likes of Chronicle and Fruitvale Station, actor Michael B. Jordan has been sought for multiple roles in big budget tentpoles. He met for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII, and is said to be up for a part in the Independence Day sequel. Recently, it was confirmed that he will play Human Torch in next summer’s Fantastic Four reboot. And now, he’s linked to yet another potentially huge role.
According to Latino-Review, Jordan recently met with director Zack Snyder for a part in the Batman vs. Superman movie. The film is looking for a physically fit African-American actor in his early 20’s. And while the role in the Man of Steel sequel is said to be small, it is one that will recur throughout the DC Cinematic Universe. Plus, the role will only require a couple days worth of shooting. It sounds like it could be one of the various Justice League cameos expected in the movie.
Based on the details given, it’s easy to assume that Jordan is wanted for the role of Cyborg. Additionally, Vic Stone is known as a football player, and Batman vs. Superman filmed some football scenes last fall. Plus, Henry Cavill expressed interest in seeing Cyborg in the DC universe. Not to mention, Jordan previously voiced the character in the animated feature Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. Latino-Review speculates that the role could be Dick Grayson or John Stewart, but Cyborg sounds more likely.
The biggest hurdle to Jordan landing the part, however, is his role in Fantastic Four. Presumably, he is signed on for potential sequels if the reboot is a success. And there could easily be scheduling conflicts with playing Human Torch in that franchise and Cyborg in another at the same time. The Batman vs. Superman role is only scheduled to film a handful of days, so it’s possible that Jordan can make this cameo and then work on Fantastic Four throughout the rest of the year. We’ll have to wait and see how this one pans out. Stay tuned for more details as we have them.
Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
