BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN News Bits: Zack Snyder “Can’t Confirm” Batsuit Reveal + More From Michael Wilkinson

We have a couple more news tidbits for Batman vs. Superman, both concerning the film’s costumes. First, Zack Snyder was asked at the 300: Rise of an Empire premiere if we were indeed getting our first look at Ben Affleck suited up as Batman soon. He simply tells Clevver Movies that “I cannot confirm that.” The question apparently caught Snyder off guard, and he goes on to say that he doesn’t even have photos of the new Superman and Batman costumes on his phone. Needless to say, the way he answered this question seems to suggest that he knows more than what he’s said. We’re supposed to get our first looks at the new Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman costumes within the next month, especially with production starting in April.
Speaking of the Batman vs. Superman suits, costume designer Michael Wilkinson has more to say on the subject. In an interview with Henry Cavill News, the Man of Steel designer reveals why the decision was made to tweak Superman’s look for the sequel. “Every project I do I like to improve on what’s been done before and push the envelope a little bit. With this new film there’s’ an opportunity there to make it even better and suit our cinematic universe even better.” He then talks about the fittings with Henry Cavill, suggesting that the new suit is close to being finalized. “We’ve had a few fittings with him…We’re due to see him in a couple of weeks, and then final camera tests and then we’re going to start shooting.” Wilkinson also confirms that he will be in Detroit during production, from mid-April to…December? “We’re headed to Detroit, I’ll be there from mid-April right until December, and so, fortunately we’ll probably be there during the most beautiful months of the year, so I’m pretty happy about that.”

Of course, the idea of such a long shoot may substantiate the rumor that Batman vs. Superman will film back-to-back with the Justice League movie. That’s obviously far from confirmed, but eight and a half months is a long schedule to shoot just one movie. Finally, Wilkinson says to “standby” for first-look photos of the new Batman and Wonder Woman costumes. The full video interview is below. [Thanks to ComicBook.com for the transcription.]

Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016.
