DC Movie News Bits: Update From Batfleck’s Trainer, Neil Gaiman Talks SANDMAN, New SON OF BATMAN Storyboards

While Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot are training with Gym Jones for their super roles in Batman vs. Superman, Ben Affleck is instead working with Rehan Jalali, who got him into impressive shape for The Town. Now, Jalali has tweeted an update on the process of getting Affleck into Batman condition (via Batman-News), assuring us that all is going according to plan. “Quick Update: Met up w/Batman and Operation Biggest/Leanest/Baddest Batman Eva is on schedule! #DarkKnight” Affleck is set to be the most physically imposing Batman to date, which should please fans.
In other news, it was recently reported that Marvel’s mystery film set to combat Batman vs. Superman on May 6th, 2016 is none other than Captain America 3. Marvel reaffirmed that there is no intention to move from that date, and it’s a wonder if Batman vs. Superman will. If both remain on that date, then “let the games begin!”
Speaking with Comic Book Resources, Sandman creator Neil Gaiman weighed in on Warner Bros.’ upcoming big screen adaptation. The movie will be produced by David S. Goyer and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who may also star and/or direct. Jack Thorne was recently hired to write the script. Gaiman remains optimistic about this take on the comic mythology, and suggests that more than one movie is planned. “Joseph Gordon-Levitt, of all people, is an enormous ‘Sandman’ fan. He and David Goyer talked about it, they’ve come up, I believe, with a treatment of what they want the story of the first movie to be. They are talking to an incredible writer [Jack Thorne], who I coincidentally already knew, because he did the movie script for ‘The Ocean at the End of the Lane,’ so I’ve met him and loved his treatment of my work. And Wednesday afternoon I will be spending with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and talking ‘Sandman!’ That’s pretty much everything I know. Now you know as much as I know.”

Finally, we have some production stills from DC’s next animated film, Son of Batman. The storyboard images feature Batman, Alfred Pennyworth, and Talia al Ghul. The movie adapts Grant Morrison’s “Son of Batman”, which brought Damian Wayne into the DC Universe. Son of Batman is scheduled to be released on May 6th. [Via World’s Finest Online]
