DC TV News Bits: Update On PREACHER, ARROW S2E18 “Deathstroke” Description, Manu Bennett Teases Slade’s Offspring

Speaking with Collider, screenwriter/director Evan Goldberg talks about AMC’s planned adaptation of Preacher, which he is working on with Seth Rogen. He states that, while some changes will have to be made, the television series will stay as true to the source material as possible. He then goes on to discuss the various attempts to bring Preacher to the big and small screen over the years, and shares why a TV adaptation is for the better. “We’re beyond excited, we’ve tried to make it for 10 years. The big difference is everyone else tried to make it a movie and it shouldn’t be a movie. It should be an AMC show, that’s the proper way for it to get done… It’s too big; you can’t do that in a movie. It’s just too big. You’ve gotta learn the characters, it’s all about a love triangle and you need to grow with them and see the woman swayed one way or the other, and in a movie you just can’t accomplish all that.” There’s plenty more from Goldberg in Collider’s interview, which you can read by clicking the link above.
The CW has released a plot logline for S2E18 of Arrow, titled “Deathstroke”. Set to air on April 2nd, the episode will heavily focus on Slade’s effort to exact vengeance on Oliver, and will see the return of Isabel Rochev. It already looks to be yet another pulse-pounding episode, as it follows “Suicide Squad” and “Birds of Prey”.
OLIVER’S WORLD STARTS TO CRUMBLE — Slade (Manu Bennett) makes his move against Oliver (Stephen Amell) and the repercussions are enormous.  While Oliver scrambles to protect his family, a key player in his team starts to question Oliver’s decisions.  Meanwhile, Isabel (guest star Summer Glau) makes her move to take Queen Consolidated away from Oliver.  Guy Bee directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim & Drew Z. Greenberg (#218).
Speaking of Deathstroke, actor Manu Bennett has teased a key aspect of Slade Wilson while speaking with TV Line. While discussing Slade’s response to the death of Shado, Bennett mentions that Wilson still has a son, and possibly other children. He then says to look to the comics for more clues beyond what we’ll see in episodes of Arrow. “You have to remember, Slade Wilson has also got an ex-partnership and a son out in the world there somewhere. And the son’s potentially got siblings in some scenario that hasn’t yet evolved into the storyline. People have to think about more than the layers of what is being shown in each episode. They have to find clues in the DC Comics history, to maybe even piece together more of what Slade is festering upon.”
