Rumor: BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Release Date Moving Up A Week

It’s now time for today’s questionable Batman vs. Superman rumor. Last night, Marvel president Kevin Feige confirmed that the studio’s film slated for May 6th, 2016 will not be moved, despite it being the very same day that the Man of Steel sequel debuts. This led to much speculation on whether or not one of these films will reschedule, as it would be the ultimate DC vs. Marvel contest.
Now, Brazilian website Judao (via HeyUGuys) claims it will be Batman vs. Superman that will be moved. According to the site, Warner Bros. Brazil is releasing the film on April 28th, 2016 in the South American country. However, sources have also apparently revealed that there are plans to release the movie in the United States on April 29th, 2016, the day after. Judao says WB hasn’t officially confirmed this, however.
Personally, I would be surprised if this rumor is true. It was posted just as the news of Marvel sticking to the May 6th release date is going viral, so it can easily be a fictitious report in an effort to gain extra hits. On the other hand, stranger things have happened. Either way, we should expect to hear official word on this soon.
However, this would be a plausible effort if true. It would be wise to space out Batman vs. Superman and the unknown Marvel movie, as it would benefit both films financially. Then there’s the question of whether or not this Marvel movie can hold its own. Chances of it being another Iron Man or Avengers sequel are extremely slim, and even Thor 3 or Captain America 3 would likely struggle. Other rumored titles, like Doctor Strange and a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, will probably underperform if pitted against the DC Trinity itself. Again, we’ll just have to wait and see if this pans out.
Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
