BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Reportedly Set To Debut In The UK One Week Before US Release

In recent weeks, there has been much discussion over Warner Bros.’ decision to release Batman vs. Superman on May 6th, 2016 – the same date that Marvel will debut the now highly anticipated Captain America 3. While Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are clearly much more popular than Captain America, a follow-up to one of the most critically acclaimed comic book movies in a couple years could certainly slow down the box office gross of the Man of Steel sequel, which is the stepping stone for the DC Cinematic Universe. Neither studio is planning to move, setting up a collision course for the ages.

In the meantime, it looks like WB is taking another page out of Marvel’s book. According to FDA (via Digital Spy), Batman vs. Superman will be released in the UK on April 29th, 2016. That’s one week before its May 6th debut in the United States. Marvel Studios is known for making this move on several of its productions, while Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will arrive in the nation on April 16th – over two weeks before its US bow. So, it makes sense that WB/DC would also want in on this tradition.

In other Batman vs. Superman news, Ben Affleck was recently confirmed to be coming to Detroit today, with Gal Gadot not far behind. This strongly suggests that filming will start very soon, and with that, we can expect official images of the new Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman costumes. Stay tuned for that and more as we have it.

Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Holly Hunter, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
