Next DC Animated Movie Will Be New 52 Aquaman Origin Tale; Sam Witwer To Voice Orm

Since the post-credits scene for Justice League: War, a follow-up film focusing on Aquaman and Atlantis has been expected, expanding the new animated universe. And now, we have more details on this project. According to Newsarama, DC’s next animated movie after Batman: Assault on Arkham will be a New 52 origin story for Aquaman. The site states that “at the start of the film he won’t know much, if anything, about his connection to Atlantis, his place in their royal family, and his destiny to be their king.” It’s unknown how other Justice League members will factor in, if at all.

Additionally, the villainous Orm – who was in the JL: War after credits scene – will be voiced by Smallville and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed actor Sam Witwer. The title is unknown, but is expected to include “Atlantis”. The movie is expected to be announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July, which is also where we’ll likely see the world premiere of Assault on Arkham. Stay tuned for more news on DC’s animated slate as we have it.
