Breaking: Warner Bros. Reportedly Set To Announce Lengthy DC Slate At Comic-Con – WONDER WOMAN, SHAZAM, GREEN LANTERN-FLASH Team-Up And More Films Coming

Here’s an extremely exciting news piece. Former Deadline president/writer Nikki Finke recently launched her own website, and she has started things out with a bang. According to her sources, Warner Bros. is making some BIG DC announcements at San Diego Comic-Con next month. We have Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice officially expanding the DC Universe on May 6th, 2016, but in July that year, we will see the release of Shazam, which was previously reported to be in development. The Joseph Gordon-Levitt-produced Sandman, which he may or may not direct/star in, will be released Christmas 2016.

Things get even more interesting, with Finke reaffirming a prior report that Justice League will be unleashed in May 2017. Following it in July, however, is the long-awaited Wonder Woman solo film. Gal Gadot was recently confirmed to be contracted for both these films, in addition to her role in Batman v. Superman. And in Christmas 2017, we have a team-up film for The Flash and Green Lantern. This is arguably the biggest surprise, as most expected new solo films for both characters instead. Finally, in May 2018, Warner Bros. will release the next Superman solo film, Man of Steel 2.

Additionally, WB was reportedly interested in releasing both Suicide Squad and Metal Men in 2016, but the studio was unable to fit them into the schedule. As for the Dawn of Justice delay, Finke confirms that it was because of the film launching Justice League. Her source states, “Like Marvel’s The Avengers, there will be cameos of superheroes for future installments. The cameos will include the already known Cyborg and Flash. Green Lantern [not played by Ryan Reynolds] may be introduced. And Aquaman will be seen in the Justice League movie. Problem is, Warner Bros Pictures was still negotiating with the actors for those cameos and future roles, meaning major contracts for multiple JL/character films to follow. The studio didn’t want to move forward until they had more of this secure so they held off starting production for a few months. Seemingly simple reason, but the implications are pretty darn huge.”

So yeah, this news is thrilling, and should please those who sought to see WB pursue DC properties more frequently. This is expected to be made official at Comic-Con next month, so stay tuned for more as we have it.
