Rumor: Commissioner Gordon To Make An Appearance In BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is now filming, but rumors surrounding which characters to expect in the film are still going strong. The latest one comes via Batman-on-Film, who has heard from a “longtime” source that Commissioner James Gordon will make an appearance in the Man of Steel follow-up. If true, then this would make sense. Ben Affleck’s Batman will be older and more seasoned than past incarnations, so at least some of his supporting cast is expected to appear in the movie. Jeremy Irons is set to play Alfred Pennyworth, while Dick Grayson/Nightwing will reportedly show up at some point. And as a key character in the Batman mythos, Gordon is the next obvious choice to include in Dawn of Justice.

Gordon has appeared in every live action Batman film to date. He was played by Neil Hamilton in 1966’s Batman: The Movie, Pat Hingle in the Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher series, and, most notably, Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy. A younger version of the character will headline this fall’s television series Gotham, played by Ben McKenzie. If this latest rumor is to be believed, then Gordon will return to the big screen sooner than expected. Who do you think should play the next Jim Gordon?

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016. A follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Holly Hunter, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
