Highlights From BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Comic-Con Appearance; No Announcements On Future DC Films

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice made a “surprise” appearance at the beginning of Warner Bros.’ Comic-Con panel today. Director Zack Snyder came on stage, along with actors Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot. After showing off new concept art, a brief teaser was screened, teasing the showdown between Batman and Superman. Then, we saw new images of Wonder Woman and Batman, which you can check out here. Below is a description of the exciting footage shown courtesy of Coming Soon. (Image via Just Jared.)

“Batman is standing on a Gotham rooftop in the rain. His costume isn’t what we’ve seen already. It’s big and bulky, like his armor in The Dark Knight Returns. His eyes light up, solid white. He’s moving a tarp, revealing the bat signal. He turns it on and the camera tracks up to the sky. Superman is there, hovering in the light, and he doesn’t look happy. His eyes light up with heat vision as he glares at Batman.”

Unfortunately, that was it for DC’s presence at the panel. After showing footage for Jupiter Ascending and Mad Max: Fury Road, the rest of Warner Bros.’ presence was dominated by The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Despite a rumor claiming we will see the announcement of Justice League and many other DC films here, there was not a peep on it. It’s possible WB is looking to make such an announcement somewhere else in the near future, but this is surely disappointing to fans. Hopefully, we’ll hear an update or two sooner than later.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016. A follow-up to Man of Steel, the second installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Holly Hunter, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer.
