These Four Villainous Characters Will Appear In BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

Just before the reveal of the new Superman costume, a juicy Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice report went online. Latino-Review has revealed that not one, not two, not three, but FOUR villainous roles will feature in the Justice League prequel, in addition to Lex Luthor. The site debunks rumors of Metallo and Joker appearing in the film, and that Callan Mulvey will not be playing either of those characters. However, the site adds, “If anything the Joker will be in the movie in spirit only because there is in important beat in the upcoming film that pertains to Batman’s past and his character arc.” The death of Jason Todd, perhaps? It would make sense, given The Dark Knight Returns‘ influence on the movie and Batman’s rumored semi-retirement. Anyway, Latino-Review goes on to describe the villains and their roles in the film.

First up is Victor Zsasz. According to the site, the infamous serial killer will come to blows with Batman early on in Gotham City. Dawn of Justice marks the character’s second live action appearance; Zsasz made his big screen debut in 2005’s Batman Begins. Next is David Cain, a world renown assassin who is in his 50s. In Batman v. Superman, Cain meets with Mercy Graves (rumored to be played by Tao Okamato) to set up an assassination. However, the target is unknown. Bruce Wayne, possibly?

Then there’s Morgan Edge. A public relations executive for LexCorp, Edge is essentially Luthor’s spokesman, and a “total slimeball.” Latino-Review reveals, “We meet Edge early on when he goes toe to toe with Lois Lane in a television talk show. In the movie’s backstory, Edge and Luthor were members of the most notorious gangs ever to come out of Hob’s Bay.” The site then speculates that this could be Scoot McNairy’s secret role, and not Nightwing as previously speculated. This is also a role that would be right up the Argo actor’s alley.

Finally, we have the most exciting addition, who is yet to be cast. It appears that none other than Amanda Waller will be present in Batman v. Superman. The character will be featured as, “a very stern and focused senator with an intimidating presence.” Waller is extremely untrustworthy of Superman, and introduces a counter measure to take out this potential threat. However, that counter measure is unknown. In the animated series Justice League: Unlimited, Waller’s Project Cadmus was behind the creation of Doomsday. Could we see something similar play out in Dawn of Justice? Waller was previously played by Angela Bassett in 2011’s Green Lantern film, and has most recently been featured on The CW’s Arrow, played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson.

This is certainly exciting news. It’s clear by now that Batman v. Superman is a full-fledged DC Universe film, featuring many key players from this world. Who do you wish to see play these new characters?

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016. A follow-up to Man of Steel, the second installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Holly Hunter, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
