Don’t Expect Green Lantern To Appear In BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

It’s no secret that several superheroes are set to debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to directly lead into the Justice League movie. In addition to its two titular heroes, Wonder Woman is set to have a supporting role, while Aquaman and Cyborg are expected to make cameos. The Flash is said to be a lock for an appearance as well. And now, a new report substantiates that claim and tells us who not to expect in the Justice League prequel.

Badass Digest has posted an article covering speculation for Scoot McNairy playing The Flash in Batman v Superman, which was generated from the actor being seen wearing green mo-cap socks on set. Personally, I think it’s a stretch to assume that McNairy is playing Flash based on that alone, as it could easily be a character whose legs are damaged. Regardless, the site’s sources reaffirm that the Fastest Man Alive will indeed be in the movie, and the League’s lineup by the end of the film will consist of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman.

Wait – what about Green Lantern? Badass Digest’s sources also reveal that the Emerald Knight will not make his next big screen appearance until the Justice League movie. This move makes sense, as Batman v Superman may not want to introduce every single member of the League together before the main film.

It’s also unknown whether or not this Green Lantern will be Hal Jordan again or another human, such as John Stewart. Dwayne Johnson, who is now attached to star in the Shazam film, recently revealed that he wanted to play Stewart, but Warner Bros. is going in a “different direction” with Green Lantern. That and the strong New 52 influence on the lineup so far, as well as Jordan being the Lantern in much of the Justice League merchandising, substantiate the idea of Hal being used once again. Of course, however, don’t expect Ryan Reynolds to reprise the role from the 2011 Green Lantern film.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters March 25th, 2016. A follow-up to Man of Steel, the second installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Holly Hunter, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer.
