GOTHAM Finds Its Harvey Dent – Nicholas D’Agosto To Play The Future Two-Face

Gotham‘s debut season, which will hopefully be the first of many, is well underway, with its third episode airing next Monday. The series has been introducing younger versions of many iconic Batman villains, such as Catwoman, Riddler, Penguin and Poison Ivy. One of the most frequently suggested names for an inclusion is Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face. Those involved with the show confirmed that there are plans to bring in Harvey at some point. And now, an actor has been cast for the future Two-Face.

According to Deadline, Grey’s Anatomy and Masters of Sex actor Nicholas D’Agosto has been cast as Harvey Dent in a recurring role for Gotham. There is an option for the character to become a series regular in a potential second season. No word on which episode he will appear in first This iteration of Dent is described as “a bright, charming, idealistic Assistant District Attorney whose sole mission is to eradicate the crime and corruption that has poisoned Gotham. Although he will one day serve as the white knight Gotham needs so badly as a DA, Dent also gives us a fleeting glimpse of the hideous villain he will become — Two-Face.” Also recurring this season is David Zayas as Sal Maroni, who disfigures Dent in the comics. Could we eventually see this play out in Gotham‘s future?

One of the most well-known Batman villains, Two-Face has featured in live action several times. Harvey Dent was played by Billy Dee Williams in 1989’s Batman and was recast with Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever, where he adopted the Two-Face persona. Arguably the best version of Dent came via The Dark Knight, where he was brilliantly portrayed by Aaron Eckhart. It will be interesting to see how D’Agosto will contribute to the character’s legacy.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Gotham airs on Mondays at 8 PM EST on Fox.
