Ray Fisher Talks Signing On To Play Cyborg, Filming His BATMAN V SUPERMAN Cameo And Meeting Other Justice Leaguers

Last week, Warner Bros. confirmed that theater actor Ray Fisher is set to play Cyborg in the DC Cinematic Universe. In addition to a minor role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Fisher will play Victor Stone in not only 2017’s Justice League Part One and 2019’s Justice League Part Two, but also his own Cyborg movie in 2020. However, it turns out that the actor didn’t find out about the latter until right before the rest of the world did.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Fisher revealed his surprise to learn that Cyborg will star in his own spin-off film. “I didn’t know the extent to which DC and WB had planned on taking my character. When I signed on, I just wanted to be part of this world. But that specific information, I found out then and there. I didn’t think I’d be getting my own stand-alone film.” However, despite the pressure, Fisher calls his role in the DC Cinematic Universe an “honor.” “I’m a long-game player and didn’t see any of this happening until at least my 40s. It’s a huge honor, but a bit of pressure comes along with it. My mind is just boggled right now.”

Fisher goes on to discuss filming his cameo for Batman v Superman, which he wrapped in July. He reflects on meeting fellow Justice League members Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa, as well as Lex Luthor actor Jesse Eisenberg. “I met everyone in the Justice League except Henry Cavill and Ezra Miller. It was surreal. You get this idea of going to work on a Hollywood set as being really stressful and nerve-wracking. But it blew that stereotype away. If they did have stressful times, it wasn’t while I was there.” The actor concludes by praising director Zack Snyder, saying, “Let me tell you, man, people are in for a hell of a treat.”

Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25th, 2016; Justice League Part One releases November 11th, 2017, with Part Two set for June 14th, 2019; Cyborg debuts on April 3rd, 2020.
