Could Jon Bernthal Reteam With Director David Ayer For SUICIDE SQUAD?

Warner Bros.’ next DC movie following Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is Suicide Squad, and the David Ayer-directed supervillain film is well underway in the casting process. Jesse Eisenberg is in talks to return as Lex Luthor from Batman v Superman, while Jared Leto is circling the role of The Joker. Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne have also been linked to the project. Now, an actor who recently worked with Ayer has expressed interest in reteaming with him on a future project; Suicide Squad, perhaps?

Appearing at Wizard World Tulsa Comic-Con this weekend, actor Jon Bernthal talked about his his role in Ayer’s Fury, sharing his desire to work with the writer-director again. When asked if he was interested in joining Suicide Squad, Bernthal said, “I can’t talk about that right now.” When the crowd took it as a sign that he was actually in the movie, the actor clarified that he “didn’t mean it like that” and affirmed his interest in working with Ayer once more.

While there could very well be nothing to Bernthal’s comment regarding Suicide Squad, usually when an actor says he or she cannot talk about a particular project, it’s an indication that they are involved. It may not be the case here, but it wouldn’t be surprising, given Bernthal and Ayer previously collaborating and the interest in another team-up. Fans have also expressed interest in seeing Bernthal in Suicide Squad, with many suggesting him as Deadshot.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5th, 2016.
