DC Movie + TV News Bits: Michelle MacLaren Mum On WONDER WOMAN, Amy Adams Talks BATMAN V SUPERMAN, Mark Hamill Discusses THE FLASH’s Trickster

Last month, it was reported that Breaking Bad‘s Michelle MacLaren had closed a deal to direct Wonder Woman for Warner Bros. The movie is also closing in on a writer, as Pan‘s Jason Fuchs is in talks to work on the script with MacLaren. The film will star Gal Gadot, who makes her debut as Diana Prince in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. And now, the director has finally commented on Wonder Woman, and while she’s unsurprisingly mum on details, she does offer a couple of interesting updates.

During a profile for Vulture, MacLaren is inevitably asked about Wonder Woman. She states that, “I really, really, really can’t talk about this. I just picture a drone coming in over the hills and crashing through the glass and flying over here and putting duct tape over my mouth, you know?” However, she does confirm that there is no script, release date or even a greenlight for the movie yet. This interview apparently took place before she was confirmed for the project, so there has most likely been further development since then.

Personally, I find it odd that the studio would announce a movie that hasn’t been “greenlit.” Additionally, WB announced Wonder Woman for 2017, presumably in the June 23rd slot reserved for a DC film. Hopefully, we’ll hear some official news soon. For Vulture’s entire profile on MacLaren, click the link above.

Amy Adams is currently promoting the release of Tim Burton’s Big Eyes, but she is unsurprisingly being asked about reprising her role as Lois Lane in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. During an interview with MTV, the Oscar nominee reaffirms that she has finished filming for the DC epic, and she had this to say regarding the many new characters of the movie. “Well, I was doing a Superman [movie] — my part is mostly there. But it was really fun to get to play with these other characters that were coming in, and get to have Gal [Gadot] there, and get to have another girl on set.”

So, it sounds like Lois may share at least one scene with Wonder Woman. But has Adams seen the entire DC Trinity suited up on set? “I can’t really say! But I will say that Gal looks really, really good in that costume. I was like, really? They make them like you? That’s awesome… For you. I’m really happy for you. Not so much for me. But, Lois is a mortal.” In addition to Batman v Superman, Adams is set to play Lois once more in 2017’s Justice League Part One. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to hit theaters March 25th, 2016.

Finally, we head over to the television side of the DC Universe. Later this season on The CW’s The Flash, Mark Hamill will play a new version of The Trickster, a character he previously portrayed in the 1990 Flash series. Speaking with IGN, the actor – also known for playing Luke Skywalker and voicing The Joker – had this to say about joining the Arrow spin-off. Well listen, it’s really in the embryonic stages. We discussed it over the phone. I like these guys, what they’ve already done with the show. I’m a fan. I had watched all seven or eight episodes that they had at the time.”

He adds that he did not even know which character he would play when he was asked to appear in the acclaimed series. “When they asked me to be a part of it, the last thing I was thinking was that I would be returning to that specific role, but I think you’re going to be really pleased with what they’ve come up with. It was totally unexpected.” Finally, Hamill commented on returning to this role, comparing it to his reprisal of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. “I said this before [about Luke Skywalker]. It’s like putting on an old pair of pants in the back of the closet and finding out there’s a 20 dollar bill in the pocket. It’s like ‘Oh, wow! I forgot all about this!’ And it’s more enjoyable because it’s so unexpected.” Hamill debuts as The Trickster in episode seventeen of The Flash, which will air in early 2015.
