Margot Robbie Comments On Playing Harley Quinn In SUICIDE SQUAD

The Suicide Squad movie has recruited several high-profile actors to its cast, including Will Smith, Jared Leto and (should a deal close) Viola Davis. However, inarguably one of the most exciting casting choices is Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, marking the fan-favorite character’s big screen debut. Following her much-talked about role in The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie has become a heavily sought-after actress in Hollywood. She has particularly become a favorite at Warner Bros., who has cast her in upcoming movies Focus, Tarzan and, of course, Suicide Squad. And now, Robbie has finally commented on bringing Harley to life on film.

Speaking with MTV at the Sundance Film Festival, Robbie is inevitably asked about playing Quinn. Regarding whether or not she was nervous portraying such a popular character, she says, “Yeah, I guess it’s intimidating because there’s obviously a lot of people I want to please, and a character I have to do justice. But it’s a challenge, I’m definitely up for it, and hopefully I don’t disappoint.”

As for which specific variation of Harley’s costume and/or voice she will embody, Robbie states, “We haven’t gotten too far into it, we’re still pretty far off… I’m actually shooting a movie before that, so my focus is kind of on that at the moment, we haven’t really gotten into the logistics of everything yet.” Robbie goes on to praise Jared Leto, who plays The Joker in Suicide Squad, calling him a “Great, great co-star.”

With the movie getting closer to starting production in April, additional casting announcements should be made soon. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters August 5th, 2016. The third installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne and Jared Leto. David Ayer writes and directs.
