Weta’s Joe Letteri Teases “Standalone” Sequence In BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

Weta Digital supervisor Joe Letteri confirmed last year that the visual effects company was working on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, following their stellar work on Man of Steel‘s Krypton opening sequence. The company is also known for its work on Avatar, the Middle-Earth franchise and the recent Planet of the Apes films. It was unknown exactly how big Weta’s role in Batman v Superman is, but we now have more info on what is being worked on.

Speaking with Collider, Letteri reaffirmed that Weta was working on Dawn of Justice. saying that the one sequence being developed is “standalone.” We can also rule out the scene shown in the San Diego Comic-Con 2014 trailer, which teased the epic showdown between Superman and Batman. “We’re doing a completely different sequence,” says Letteri. “That sequence is sort of self-contained, so I don’t think you would have seen any of that yet.”

Of course, this would lead to speculation concerning which scene exactly Weta is developing. Doomsday has been rumored to be the movie’s secondary villain, and a character such as him would be right up Weta’s alley, given its filmography. Perhaps this is an action sequence featuring the infamous Superman foe? It is also possible that Weta is working on a sequence featuring Wonder Woman’s home island of Themyscira or even Aquaman’s kingdom of Atlantis. Or maybe it’s something else entirely. We’ll just have to wait and see. For the rest of Collider’s interview with Letteri, click the link above.
