Common Joins The Cast of SUICIDE SQUAD in Unknown Role

Filming on Suicide Squad is now underway, but the highly anticipated DC Comics adaptation is still adding actors to its impressive ensemble cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the latest addition is none other than Oscar winner Common.

The rapper-turned-actor’s character in Suicide Squad is currently unknown. However, he was once attached to play Green Lantern John Stewart in the canned Justice League: Mortal, a role he recently expressed interest in returning to. With that in mind, along with the recent report that the Green Lantern in the Justice League movies will be Stewart, perhaps Common will end up playing this character?

However, there are plenty of other characters that Common could play. Maybe he will play Black Manta to set up a larger role in 2018’s Aquaman. Or he could be appearing as Bronze Tiger, or even Deathstroke. Or he may be playing somebody else entirely. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Also – in response to previous rumors, THR affirms that Suicide Squad will “possibly” feature cameos from Ben Affleck’s Batman and Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, both of whom will make their DC Cinematic Universe debuts in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Stay tuned for more as we have it.

Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters August 5th, 2016. The third installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Karen Fukuhara, Jim Parrack, Adam Beach, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Viola Davis and Jared Leto. David Ayer writes and directs.
