Directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord Reportedly Circling THE FLASH Movie

The first DC movie to be released after 2017’s Justice League Part One will be The Flash, which will finally give the Scarlet Speedster his own movie. Ezra Miller will play The Flash, but whether he is Barry Allen or another Flash has yet to be confirmed officially. And besides a March 23rd, 2018 release date, little else is known about this take on the Fastest Man Alive. But now, we have our first rumor about who could direct the movie, and if it comes to pass, I don’t think anyone would have a problem with it.

According to Latino-Review’s El Mayimbe, The LEGO Movie helmers Chris Miller and Phil Lord are considering taking on The Flash for Warner Bros. However, the two are a “super hot” directing duo right now, so they’re being sought for a lot of major projects. This does make sense; due to their acclaimed work on LEGO and the Jump Street movies, it shouldn’t be surprising that major studios want to hire Miller and Lord.

Case in point: according to The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider (via Screen Rant), WB and Sony Pictures are in a “tug of war” when it comes to Miller and Lord. The former wants them to direct The Flash, while the latter wants the duo to have a role in its recently announced Ghostbusters cinematic universe (yeah, that’s a thing now). While they are writing and producing a slew of projects at the moment, including The LEGO Movie 2 and The LEGO Batman Movie, Miller and Lord currently do not have a directorial job lined up.

Having these two take on The Flash would be a huge get for WB. Not only are they hot names at the moment, but Miller and Lord have a unique grasp on comedy and would do a great job injecting more humor into the DC Cinematic Universe. If the two do sign on, it would be another nail in the coffin for that “rumored” no jokes policy for DC movies, which was an idea too ludicrous to believe anyways. Not to mention, fans have wanted to see Miller and Lord tackle a superhero movie for a long time. In fact, the two even already did a movie featuring Flash, who made a couple of quick (no pun intended) appearances in The LEGO Movie.

Whether this pans out or not has yet to be seen. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
