Rumor: Could Angelina Jolie Direct WONDER WOMAN for Warner Bros?

This week, it was announced that Michelle MacLaren was no longer directing the Wonder Woman movie, vacating a position that Warner Bros. will look to refill soon. Until the studio officially announces a replacement, expect a number of rumors about the DC Comics movie to pop up. Today, we have our first one.

According to Collider, there is a possibility that actress-turned-director Angelina Jolie could tackle Wonder Woman. She is also said to be in consideration to direct Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel, which is set to hit theaters in 2018, one year after Wonder Woman. But would she be interested in doing either film? Jolie was developing her next directorial effort, Africa, for a summer shoot. But that movie may get shelved, opening up her schedule to do one of these supehero films.

One of the most recognizable celebrities in the world, Jolie began her directorial career a few years back. Her latest movie, Unbroken, was one of my favorite films from 2014. I personally would be very pleased if Jolie signs on to direct Wonder Woman; in fact, she has been my top choice since even before MacLaren was hired.

However, it’s possible that Jolie may not be interested in directing this type of film. And then there’s the potential of her vision for the movie not being the same as WB’s. So, while Jolie could very well be sought after for Wonder Woman, take this rumor with a pinch of salt for the time being. Stay tuned for more as we have it.

Wonder Woman is set to hit theaters June 23rd, 2017. The fourth installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Gal Gadot. Jason Fuchs is set to write the screenplay.
