CBS Considering Summer Run for SUPERGIRL; LUCIFER “Less Likely” for Series Order

With Upfronts scheduled for later this month, television networks are expected to finalize their 2015-2016 schedules. One series that has been pegged as a likely series order is CBS’ Supergirl, a new adaptation of one of DC Comics’ most iconic superheroines. In The Hollywood Reporter‘s “Top 10 Pilots Likely to Score Series Pickups” list, Supergirl is again mentioned, along with The CW’s untitled Arrow/Flash spin-off. However, the article suggests that we could be seeing Kara Zor-El on the small screen even sooner than this fall.

According to THR’s sources, CBS is apparently considering a summer run for Supergirl. This will make it stand out from other comic book shows, as nearly all of them are airing in the fall and spring. In fact, the only small screen comic adaptation that will air this summer is AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead. So, having Supergirl air in this slot would be unique and give comic book fans something to watch as they wait for other shows.

THR’s article also reaffirms that a first look at the Arrow/Flash spin-off is expected to be presented at The CW’s Upfronts presentation, with the cast in attendance. Additionally, for fans of Vertigo’s Lucifer, we have a not-so-promising update on its pickup chances. According to THR, the Len Wiseman-directed pilot is “less likely” to be ordered to series by Fox. While this is no confirmation that we won’t see Lucifer on television, its chances do not look to be as good as Supergirl or the Flash/Arrow spin-off.

Official decisions are expected to be made at Upfronts later this month. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
