The CW Orders ARROW/FLASH Spin-Off to Series; Official Title and Plot Logline Revealed

With Upfronts set for next week, television networks are in the process of ordering new shows. Following CBS’ pickup of Supergirl yesterday, The CW has now given a series order for its The Flash/Arrow spin-off. After months of speculation, the official title for this series is DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

The series stars Arrow and The Flash supporting characters Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/Atom, Caity Lotz as Sara Lance (?), Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave and Victor Garber as Martin Stein. New characters include Ciara Renee as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, and Franz Drameh as “Jay Jackson.”

To accompany the series order, The CW has released an official plot logline for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, explaining how these characters come together and teasing a time travel-centric plot. “When heroes alone are not enough … the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?” Who could this “immortal threat” be?

While a pilot for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a first-look trailer shot specifically for Upfronts is expected to be unveiled next week. The series is a part of The CW’s 2015-2016 midseason schedule, with a possible January premiere. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
