Tom Hardy Teases Involvement with Another DC Comics Property

Tom Hardy certainly has a history with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, having played Bane in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises. He was set to play Rick Flagg in next year’s Suicide Squad, which would have marked the actor’s official entry into the DC Cinematic Universe. However, Hardy dropped out of the role, citing scheduling conflicts. Despite this, it looks like he is reteaming with WB/DC sooner than later.

Speaking with Collider, Hardy reveals that he is planning something DC Comics-related with Warner Bros. “I actually got something cooking with Warner Bros. which is also a comic book, it’s a DC thing which is kind of…” He adds, “It’s really good actually, it contains elements of all kinds of stuff. From Ocean’s Eleven, to Batman, you can get all the wrappers out and it would be a big, really cool, Technicolor, Pulp Fiction…It’s a psychological [bleep]fest, it’s absolutely awesome. It’s as if you would take Transmetropolitan and make it happen, but it’s not that out there it’s something which is much more real world. It could be like Heat, it could be [bleep]ing awesome. Let me tell you what it is, try and guess.”

However, Hardy goes on to suggest that this project is not one of the several DC movies that are dated between 2016 and 2020, saying, “It’s not even a movie.” In fact, he implies that this is even bigger than a mere film. “It’s already… It’s real estate, it’s PRIME real estate which is sitting there right under everybody’s nose that no one’s really thought about yet and it goes TV and movie, it’s awesome. I can’t believe that nobody has even –I know they thought of it but no one has actually blown life into it yet.”

Very interesting indeed. There are plenty of possible DC franchises Hardy could be talking about here. It may not even be a mainstream DC property; it could be a Vertigo or Wildstorm adaptation. What do you think Hardy is talking about here? Stay tuned for more as we have it.
