Scott Eastwood Talks SUICIDE SQUAD Stunts and Jared Leto’s Joker

Scott Eastwood will play a supporting role in Suicide Squad, but right now, his exact character is unknown. He was rumored to be playing Steve Trevor, but Chris Pine is in talks for that role in the Wonder Woman film. Eastwood was spotted on set in military garb, and he reportedly signed a three-picture deal. Is he playing a character from the comics, or is he an original creation for this universe?

While we wait on that answer, Eastwood spoke with E! Online about filming Suicide Squad. He commented on his relationship with Jared Leto, as well as the Oscar winner going all in to play The Joker. “I was sort of afraid to approach him because I didn’t want to mess with his thing going on. But I knew him before. I met him before he was The Joker. I just met him as Jared Leto. So I didn’t know if I wanted to mess up his thing.” He then said that writer-director David Ayer’s vision of the film will “really surprise” everybody.

Eastwood went on to discuss the stuntwork of Suicide Squad, affirming that filming the movie is a very physical process. “[It’s] really physical. David is a very physical film maker. He wants everyone doing their own stuff and he doesn’t hire guys who aren’t willing to do that.” As for physical injuries sustained on set, the actor said, “I think active guys are always living with injuries. You’re always dealing with an injury. That’s part of it. It’s like sports. There’s always something.”

Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters August 5th, 2016. The third installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Karen Fukuhara, Jim Parrack, Adam Beach, Common, Scott Eastwood, Viola Davis and Jared Leto. David Ayer writes and directs.
