Warner Bros. Consumer Products Teases BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Merchandise; New Look at the Batmobile

It was announced yesterday that Warner Bros. will be bringing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to Licensing Expo 2015 next week, promising a thorough roll-out of merchandising for the film. To celebrate the event, LicensingMag spoke with Warner Bros, Consumer Products president and exec. vice president, Brad Globe and Karen McTier. The magazine features an image of them alongside the Batmobile from the film.

The duo discussed collaborating with various companies to produce merchandise, including DC Entertainment. They comment specifically on the merch for Batman v Superman and partnerships for future DC movies. Globe says, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens the door to a long-term opportunity that will allow all of our licensing and retail partners around the world to plan for the future against a strong slate of films. We will maximize each of these opportunities and create a perennial presence at retailers around the world.” McTier adds, “Fans around the world are excited about the slate of films announced over the next five years that will bring the world of DC Comics to life. Our global licensee base has continued to have impressive success with these properties based on their universal awareness. As we move into an era of major content support, we are looking to create a consistent presence at retail that will drive growth.”

As for what exactly will be part of the Dawn of Justice merch, it looks like we can expect everything from Batman and Superman themselves to the former’s gear and vehicles, as well as Wonder Woman. McTier says, “This is the first time ever that fans will see Batman and Superman together in a theatrical event. And let’s not forget the two new Batsuits, a new Batmobile, the Batwing, a new logo and Wonder Woman that all create really merchandisable elements for our partners. We have had phenomenal success with each character in their own world, but now we are able to supercharge the opportunity based on the most universally recognized Super Heroes.” The rollout for this merch will begin about eight weeks before the movie’s release next year.

Talk then turned specifically to Wonder Woman’s role in the merchandising. Thankfully, it appears that she will be very present in products supporting the film. McTier states, “Our comprehensive program will include Wonder Woman in the merchandise lines and in standalone products supporting the film. We have always had a robust line for Wonder Woman, and her role in this film and future films offers us more opportunities to feature her character and empowering attributes in many creative ways.” Recently, Marvel Studios was criticized for the lack of Black Widow merchandise during the Avengers: Age of Ultron campaign. It seems that WB/DC will not be making that mistake for Wonder Woman.
