BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Covers Entertainment Weekly; New Images, Plot Details and More

With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set to dominate San Diego Comic-Con next week, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled its cover for the convention featuring the film. The cover features Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman, with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman front and center. An amazing sight for DC fans.

EW visited the Dawn of Justice set last year and spoke with cast members, as well as director Zack Snyder. Affleck offers new details on his take on Batman, which is at least partly inspired by The Dark Knight Returns. “He’s on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it. But this guy is further down the line and has become more embittered and cynical.”

In this movie, Batman is worried that Superman’s power will make him an unstoppable threat, rather than the hero the world needs. Thus, the highly anticipated fight is on. His TDKR-inspired mech suit is made of “strength-augmenting armor,” as well as Kryptonite.

Of course, Batman v Superman will pave the way for at least a dozen more DC movies, such as the two-part Justice League. Snyder has this to say about building this mega-franchise. “It’s a marathon. No, it’s a marathon within a marathon. Do you know that race from Death Valley to the top of Mount Whitney? It’s, like, 100 miles and it’s from the lowest point in the continental United States to the highest. It’s crazy. Anyway, it’s like that.”

Meanwhile, Snyder, who is also set to direct both Justice League films, reflects on his lengthy time in the DC movie universe. “It’ll be five years by the time the movie comes out. And then if everything goes to plan it’ll be another five years of Justice League. I’ll be 10 years of superheroes by the end of this.”
