CBS Lets Loose With a New SUPERGIRL Promo + Ali Adler Talks Superman
As Comic Con begins in San Diego, the producers of Supergirl released another promo on
their official Facebook page. Like the
initial promo that was released online a few weeks back the thirty second ad
features footage from the pilot.
However, this ad seems more focused on showing of the action the series
plans to offer as opposed to the light-hearted tone the preview had. Also featured is the tagline: “Witness
Her Story in the Making.”

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly caught up with Executive
Producer Ali Adler and asked about the show.
They asked one of the biggest questions most people have had about the
series from the start: Will Superman appear or not?

Despite former Superman Dean Cain being part of the cast,
Adler states that Superman will not be appearing any time soon. Adler explains “Our prototype is the way the president is seen on Veep,” referring to the HBO series. “It’s
certainly [inspired by] so much of what Julia-Louis Dreyfus’ character goes
through. Ultimately, this is a show about Supergirl and we really want to see
it through her lens.”

This fits with the path of The Flash last season, after a brief cameo from Oliver Queen in the
pilot most of the early episodes of last season until the “Flash vs Arrow”
Crossover event were self-contained to the world of the series on its own. It’s also worth noting that CBS and the
producers have been very cool on the idea of crossover, specifically with the
CW-Verse.

At the same time, Superman will have a presence on the show
no matter how much he is or is not mentioned on the show and the writers and
directors will likely have a lot of fun addressing him.
