Looks Like Chris Miller and Phil Lord Won’t Direct THE FLASH Movie After All

Earlier this year, The LEGO Movie directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord signed on to write the story treatment for Warner Bros.’ The Flash film, which will star Ezra Miller as (presumably) Barry Allen. The studio was also interested in hiring the duo to direct the DC adaptation, which is set for a March 23rd, 2018 release.

Miller and Lord have been very busy, with projects such as The Last Man on Earth television series, 23 Jump Street and an animated Spider-Man movie on their slate. They are also producing several LEGO sequels and spin-offs for WB. Now, the two have found their next directorial project, but it won’t be The Flash.

It was announced today that Miller and Lord will next direct one of Disney’s Star Wars Anthology films, which will star a younger Han Solo. The prequel is set for a May 25th, 2018 release – the same year as The Flash.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Miller and Lord’s commitment to Star Wars likely means that they will not be able to direct The Flash. However, it’s possible that they may stay on board the project as writers and/or producers.

While it looks like Miller and Lord’s Flash story will still be used, it is at least a bit disappointing that they will not direct it. Still, I wish them the best as they travel to a galaxy far, far away. Who do you think should direct The Flash?
