SUICIDE SQUAD Comic-Con Sizzle Reel Breakdown

Well, if you’re anything like me you’ve watched the new Batman v Superman trailer near a dozen
times by now and I think you deserve to take a quick breather.
So here’s a breakdown of the other DC Film fans at San Diego
got to see today: David Ayer’s Suicide
Squad
.  Fans in Hall H got to see the
principal cast along with director David Ayers.
After saying it was time for “Bad vs Evil” fans got their
first taste:

Set to rather haunting cover of the BeeGee’s “I Started
a Joke” the preview begins with people at dinner.  One of these people is Amanda Waller, she
describes the prisoners under her watch saying she had “Thrown them in a
hole then threw away the hole.”  She
plans to use these people to do what they need while leaving the government
with “plausible deniability.” A name drop of Superman suggests that
perhaps Task Force X is a response to the sudden appearance of Flying-indestructible
aliens shooting fire from their eyes.

From there we are introduced to the team; most notably Harley
Quinn is seen hanging from the ceiling of her cell, Killer Croc is lurking in
the shadows while Deadshot is hitting a heavy bag.  The team is brought together and after Deadshot
dubs them the Suicide Squad the action shots begin and there is a lot including
a man in a panda costume shooting up a grocery store, Arkham Asylum being shot
up and the now familiar sequence of Batman riding on the top of Joker’s car.

The reel gives the impression that Margot Robbie’s Harley
Quinn will be the lynchpin of the film and that she appears up to the task.

Finally there was the moment we’ve all been pondering; Jared
Leto gives us a taste of his Joker.
Including a sharp bark of laughter and a scene where he seems to be
torturing someone looking an awful lot like this:
The sizzle reel close with a promise from Leto: “I’m
not going to kill you; I’m just going to hurt you really, really bad.”

Bootlegs of the video are popping up but unlike the Batman v Superman sizzle reel from last
year’s SDCC Warner are cracking down on them as fast as they pop up meaning
we’ll have to await an official release to see what’s being described.

But for now, maybe watch this bad boy a few more times:
