Ike Barinholtz Calls His SUICIDE SQUAD Character a “Very Troubled Human Being”

One Suicide Squad actor whose character has yet to be confirmed is Ike Barinholtz. The Mindy Project star was previously rumored for the role of Hugo Strange, but we don’t even know for sure if that character is in the film. During an interview with Zap2it, Barinholtz still won’t say who he’s playing, but he offers a few hints.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Barinholtz is not playing a good guy in Suicide Squad. He says, “I can tell you my character in that movie is someone you would not want at your house for dinner. He’s a very troubled human being.” He then suggests that his character may be revealed “by the time the next trailer comes out.” There is no word on when a second trailer for Suicide Squad will be released, but don’t be surprised if it drops by the end of the year or in early 2016.

Barinholtz goes on to say that he was a comic book fan as a child, and he goes on to comment on the tone of Suicide Squad. For those worried about the film being too serious – even though the movie stars criminals, murderers, thiefs, etc. – Barinholtz is confident that there will be room for comedy and laughs. “The trailer is very serious, but [director] David Ayer is a psychopath. As as much as he loves the dark and exploring the disturbed side of society, it’s not like you’re telling jokes, but if you can just kind of in the moment try to play things a little honestly and react to these giant, huge superhero things that are happening, funny stuff can kind of happen and there can be laughs from it. With that said, who knows; when they cut the movie it might be very serious. But Will Smith is a very funny guy, Jai Courtney is actually a very funny guy, Margot Robbie is actually funny, so I think there is going to be some moments in that that actually make people laugh.”
