Nathan Fillion Expresses Interest in Playing DC’s Booster Gold

Nathan Fillion has been a fan-favorite amongst geeks for many years. The Firefly star has voiced Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in several animated movies from DC, leading to fans wanting Fillion to play the role in live action. While he probably never will, he did make a cameo as an inmate in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, Fillion has named another comic book role he wants to take on.

At Wizard World Comic-Con Chicago (via ComicBook.com), Fillion revealed that he would be up for playing DC Comics’ Booster Gold, when asked which Marvel or DC character he would like to portray. “I think I could take a pretty good crack at Booster Gold. That’s kind of my niche… show-offy, vain. I think I could handle that… not too bright.” He then adds that, if Booster Gold doesn’t work out, he would be interested in playing obscure DC villain Ambush Bug or starring in a reboot of The Greatest American Hero.

There has been some speculation regarding Booster Gold’s live action future recently. The showrunner for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow recently confirmed that the character won’t appear on this show, while there are no further indicators of appearing in other ongoing TV shows. Not to mention, the Booster Gold pilot from SyFy looks to be shelved.

However, there have been rumors of Booster Gold appearing in the DC Extended Universe, with a low budget solo movie allegedly planned and the Blaze Comics company being referenced in Man of Steel. Maybe that’s why he hasn’t been in any of the television shows yet; he could be a character being reserved for the movies. And I think a lot of fans would be on board with Nathan Fillion playing this character.
