THE FLASH: Keiynan Lonsdale Talks About Playing Wally West

Let’s be honest; from the moment the CW started talking about
the Flash joining the DC/CW-Universe, the Wally West question has been right up
there in terms of popularity with “Will it connect with the movies?” With
Keiynan Lonsdale set to join the cast we’re starting to get some answers for
those questions.  As a fan of the show,
Lonsdale is getting some of those answers himself and sharing them The Wrap.

The Australian born actor is a relative newcomer and has
recently wrapped up filming his role in
Allegiant,
the conclusion of the Divergent
film series.  With Allegiant completed he’s free to join the cast as a series regular
for season two, Lonsdale says he starts filming his part on Flash in October.  Lonsdale told the interviewer that he
originally auditioned for another show set in the “same universe” (safe to
assume Arrow or Legends of Tomorrow) a few weeks later he was told he did not get
that part but they did want him to audition for Wall West.  He told them, “Oh that’s crazy, I’ve just been watching the whole season.”  He then met with Greg Berlanti and Andrew
Kreisberg before auditioning for the part.
He told The Wrap that the only cast member he’s met thus far
was Candice Patton as part of the audition process and that she was a lot of
fun.  He also said that he does not have
very much information on what Wally West’s role in season two will be though he
believes he will have more information soon.
With Lonsdale not filming until October it could be that he
will be introduced either late in the first half or early in the second half of
Season Two.  Considering that the first
half of season two of The Flash will
have a lot to deal with (Jay Garrick, Kendra Saunders, prep for Legends of Tomorrow) it’s probably for
the best to wait so that Wally’s entrance into the story can have the weight it’s
due.
