Gal Gadot Turned Down a Role in MAN OF STEEL Before Being Cast as Wonder Woman

As we all know, Gal Gadot ended up landing the highly coveted role of Wonder Woman for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is a character she will end up playing for many movies and many years to come. But she came very close to playing a completely separate character in the DC Extended Universe.

Speaking with Xnet (translation via Batman-News), Gadot talks about the role of karma in her life, and how she credits it with her playing Wonder Woman. Turns out she was offered a role in Man of Steel, which sounds to be Faora. But due to her pregnancy at the time, Gadot turned it down. “When I was a month pregnant with (my daughter) Alma, I got an offer to be the evil Superman character. If I wasn’t pregnant I’d take the job, and there’s no way they would take me now to be Wonder Woman.”

Of course, Faora was played by Antje Traue in Man of Steel, where she became a fan-favorite character. However, Wonder Woman is obviously a much bigger character with more franchise potential, giving Gadot much more to work with than Faora.

You can first see Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which hits theaters on March 25th, 2016.
