Seth Grahame-Smith in Talks to Write and Direct THE FLASH Movie for Warner Bros.

When Christopher Miller and Phil Lord were hired to write a story treatment for The Flash movie, the duo also considered directing. However, commitments to other projects, such as a Star Wars Han Solo prequel at Disney, have kept that from happening. So, who will helm the Scarlet Speedster’s very first movie? The answer may surprise you.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, author-turned-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith is in negotiations to make his directorial debut with The Flash, as well as write the script based on Miller and Lord’s treatment. Grahame-Smith is known for his horror novels Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, both of which have been adapted to film (the former by Grahame-Smith). He also wrote 2017’s The LEGO Batman Movie for Warner Bros. Needless to say, this is an unexpected but inspired choice of director.

The Flash will star Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, who makes his debut in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League Part One. The movie, which hits theaters on March 23rd, 2018, will be produced by Charles Roven and executive produced by Deborah and Zack Snyder. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
