DC TV News Bits: New SUPERGIRL Casting, Matt Ryan Talks CONSTANTINE’s Future, New THE FLASH Poster

Following the successful launch of Supergirl last week, we have another casting announcement for the CBS series. According to The Mary Sue, Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Emma Caulfield is set to play DC character Cameron Chase. Usually depicted as a Department of Extranormal Operations (DEO) in the comics, Chase will be an FBI agent in Supergirl.

Warner Bros. has shared an official description of the character. “After her father’s violent murder, Cameron Chase decided to dedicate her life to law enforcement. Now a stern, no holds barred FBI agent, Chase’s weapons of choice are manipulation and manpower. With little sympathy, and plenty of suspicions, she pursues her targets with ruthless determination.” No word on which episode will mark Chase’s debut.

Tonight’s episode of Arrow marks a crossover with Constantine, which was canceled by NBC halfway into its first season. Matt Ryan returns as John Constantine, in a move that pleases Hellblazer fans. But, after this episode, will Ryan reprise the role yet again?

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Ryan addressed this question. While he is currently preoccupied with his play, Therese Raquin, he will be finished in January. Afterwards, he would love to play Constantine once again. “Do you know what? At the moment, I’m concentrated on the play. I’m doing this play til January. But I love this character; it’s one of my most favorite characters I’ve ever played and having this chance to play him again has been great. I wouldn’t say no to another opportunity of donning the trench coat again.”

And as for other Constantine characters, such as Chas and Zed, potentially returning in another DC show, Ryan says, “I also think that John is someone that — Chas has a certain skillset, Zed has a certain skillset, and there’s a reason that they are around him in his world. So they would be integral to anything that John would tackle, really, because they have these specific useful skillsets. And also, do you know what would be great? Is just to work with those guys again.” Hopefully, these characters will return to the Arrowverse sooner than later.

And finally, The CW has released yet another poster for season two of The Flash. This one sees the Scarlet Speedster teaming up with Harrison Wells of Earth-2, as they prepare to face the wrath of Zoom. Check out the one-sheet below.
