Saïd Taghmaoui Offers New Details on His WONDER WOMAN Role

The other day, French actor Saïd Taghmaoui shared a couple set photos from Wonder Woman, revealing his involvement in the DC Comics adaptation. While production hasn’t been officially announced yet, other evidence suggests that the film is indeed shooting now in the UK – or is very close to it. Taghmaoui deleted the set photos from his social media pages after they went viral, but the actor is still open about his role in the movie.

Speaking with Ultra magazine (transcription via Batman-News), Taghmaoui revealed that he will be playing a “superhero” in Wonder Woman. “I’ll be playing a superhero, but details are still under wraps. I can’t tell you much.” Could this superhero later play a role in Justice League and/or another DC Extended Universe film? We’ll have to wait and see.

Taghmaoui elaborates on how he got this role, citing “hard work” and “luck” in landing it. “I was among hundreds of potential candidates, and I slowly became the favorite. It wasn’t easy. It took me three months.” He then says he will be undergoing “excessive” physical preparation for the part, and he revealed more specs on the movie’s production timeframe. “Shooting is scheduled to begin in November and it will take about 6 months, in 4 different countries.”

Finally, Taghmaoui discusses his childhood dream of being a superhero, as well as which superpowers he himself would like to have. “Being a super hero was a dream for me as a child. I would have love to travel in time and suppress all the bad things that happened before. I would have also like to have a super strength in order to fight injustice and protect those who are in need and to suppress all mankind sorrows.”

Whoever Taghmaoui is playing in Wonder Woman, it surely sounds like an intriguing character. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit theaters June 23rd, 2017. The fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Saïd Taghmaoui. Patty Jenkins directs from a script by Jason Fuchs.
