A New Batman Video Game Series Is On The Way

Batman: Arkham Knight

With Batman: Arkham Knight putting an end to Rocksteady Studios Arkham trilogy, it was only a matter of time until a new developer took a crack at bringing the Dark Knight to consoles. During The Game Awards, Telltale Games revealed that they are developing a new series of Batman video games that will be released in 2016.

Telltale Games released this statement on their blog saying: “At Telltale, we’ve been honored to bring our unique approach to interactive storytelling to some of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll soon be exploring what it means to be Batman in an all-new series starting next year,” said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. “This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”

This sounds like a compltely different game than the Arkham series. With the Arkhamverse focusing more on Batman and his villains. What Telltale is doing is making a new Batman instead of trying to copy and paste The Arkham formula, which is to be comended. Telltale also released a teaser for the game.

This news raises the question of what is Warner Bros. Montréal really making? Are they still going to make games set in the Arkhamverse or are they doing something completely different? We could possibly have two different developers working on Batman games, which is something to keeep an eye on. Stay tuned as more news on this new series is revealed.
