Ike Barinholtz Recalls SUICIDE SQUAD Set Stories and Reveals Pricey Budget

Suicide Squad actor Ike Barinholtz recently appeared on The Howard Stern Show (via Batman-News), and naturally, the subject of the DC supervillain film came up. He reaffirms that he cannot go into detail about his character, though his role is a “small” one. Previous rumors suggested that he is playing Dr. Hugo Strange, but the trailer suggests that he is a SWAT team member instead.

Barinholtz went on to describe his experience on set, from praising Will Smith to reaffirming that he did not interact with Jared Leto. He also told the backstory behind Margot Robbie giving tattoos to her castmates. After getting drunk, the actress would take her tattoo gun and offer free tattoos. One guy had a typo in his.

Now this is where things get interesting. Barinholtz commented on Suicide Squad‘s budget, and he says it’s “north of” $250M. That is a very big figure that is usually reserved for the biggest, most grand-in-scale blockbuster films. In fact, this is a bigger budget than Man of Steel‘s, which was $225M. So, it looks like Suicide Squad will be even bigger in scope than expected.

Despite having mostly lesser-known characters, Warner Bros. is showing plenty of confidence in Suicide Squad. Hopefully, the movie will be a big hit and spawn a new franchise for the studio. For more from Barinholtz’ (NSFW) chat with Howard Stern, click the link above.
