SUPERGIRL Will Adapt Iconic Alan Moore Story; Former Supergirl Laura Vandervoort to Play a Villain

CBS’ Supergirl held its panel at the Television Critics Association tour this week, and a few new tidbits about the show were revealed (via IGN). First up, Andrew Kreisberg announced that Alan Moore’s beloved Superman story, “For the Man Who Has Everything,” will be adapted into an episode of Supergirl this season.

Titled “For the Girl Who Has Everything,” episode thirteen of Supergirl will see Kara wake up back on Krypton, unaware of how she got there. Kreisberg says that he has wanted this story to be adapted onto the show since the series premiere, and he adds that the it will come at a time when “Kara is feeling very lost and feeling very alone and very detaching from the people in her life. When she is granted this, it’s a wonderful life moment … there’s actually a reason for her to want it to be true, because it’s much more palatable and easy for her to be there.” This will be the second adaptation of “For the Man Who Has Everything;” an episode of Justice League Unlimited adapted this story a few years ago.

Additionally, it looks like another past Supergirl actress will appear on the CBS series. Helen Slater, who starred in the 1980s Supergirl film, plays Kara’s mother in this iteration. And now, Smallville‘s Supergirl, Laura Vandervoort, will recur on this show. However, she will not be an ally to Kara; quite the opposite, in fact.

Vandervoort will play Indigo, who CBS describes as a “living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, Indigo will let nothing stand in her way.” Indigo will make her first appearance in episode fifteen of Supergirl.
