TNT Has Passed on The TITANS Show

Back in 2014, it was announced that TNT was developing a pilot and potential series titled Titans, starring DC Comics’ Teen Titans. We haven’t heard much on this one since, other than a team lineup and rumored production start dates. Unfortunately, it looks like the show is no longer happening – at least with TNT.

TNT/TBS president Kevin Reilly confirmed at the Television Critics Association today (via The Hollywood Reporter) that the network has passed on Titans. He said, “We just decided it wasn’t quite where we wanted to go.” Akiva Goldsman was attached to write the pilot.

While unsurprising, this move is an unfortunate one. A live action Titans show is an exciting idea filled with a lot of potential. While TNT is no longer involved, maybe the series could be picked up by another network?

Another point to consider…it was rumored a couple months ago that Warner Bros. is considering a Teen Titans movie, possibly merging with 2020’s Cyborg. Perhaps the studio wants to keep the characters off of television and give them a movie instead? We’ll have to wait and see.

Stay tuned for more updates as we have them.
