THE FLASH Star Kiersey Clemons Comments on Director Rick Famuyiwa’s “Upsetting” Departure

Earlier this week, it was announced that director Rick Famuyiwa has dropped out of The Flash, due to “creative differences” with Warner Bros. This was a surprising move, and one that will cause another delay in the film’s production schedule. But before his exit, Famuyiwa began casting for the movie, and he was set to reunite with Dope star Kiersey Clemons, who will play Iris West.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Clemons shares her opinion on Famuyiwa’s departure. “Rick was one of the main reasons I wanted to do the movie. So him not being a part of it is obviously very upsetting to me.”

Oh, and despite fans speculating otherwise, Clemons is still on board with The Flash, and she will continue to pursue her portrayal of Iris. “Ezra [Miller] and I are going to do what we promised to do from the beginning. No matter who the director is, I am going to do what I think Iris should be.”

In addition to The Flash, Clemons is expected to make an appearance in Justice League, which recently wrapped production.

Production on The Flash was originally set to begin in March for a 2018 release, but Famuyiwa’s exit will most likely result in that date being pushed. An official start date has been unconfirmed, though Variety’s Justin Kroll suggests it could shoot next fall. This move is also expected to delay the film’s release date too.
